Hooray for the Day of Service

Date January 20, 2009

Okay, so it was kind of easy really to gather in a park with so many of our people on a beautiful, sunny, slightly breezy, holiday afternoon. Some may say not much of a service really, to hang out like that and ask people for a dollar here and there.

But I realized as I reflected on the day it was about more than just hanging and asking and collecting, it was about the connection. So many people there talking to each other about this new day dawning, sharing ideas for family living and sustainable ways, thinking of new and more ways to get involved and share the incredible abundance of spirit that was there in that little urban park. I loved our day. I loved seeing all the people, babies, kids, mamas, papas, friends. It was a great day and in the meantime we collected nearly $300.00 for Heifer International. And we expressed our appreciations for the Obamas in their new home, their new roles, their new spirit of hope in DC.

Yeah for tribes and all they bring.

Yeah for great things that come from collective energy.
