What's going on…

Date August 12, 2009

Summer mode means a little less time in the studio, and a little more time finding swimming holes and added moments too dreaming up big plans for when days are cooler and family schedules are a little bit tighter. Kathie and I are scheming up some plans for fall but here’s a little update on some things that are going on now – or things that are out there that you may have missed…

We have loved our summer collaboration with Craftzine and hope to find a way to continue that connection and the idea of weekly projects online.  We’ve got a new project up on Craftzine this week – a pair of baby/kid pants from an old tee shirt. This one is super simple and was actually made by my 11 year old daughter Lucy.

As some of you know, Kathie is in the book and film Handmade Nation for her Ramonster designs. The film is making its way around the nation as I type. It’ll be having its Austin premiere at The Alamo Draft House on Labor Day weekend and Kathie will be there showing her wares, as well as a whole slew of crafters and craft lovers. It’s a fantastic film and a great glimpse into the studio life of some of the most amazing crafters around the nation – taking craft to whole new levels from their very own homes and backyard studios. One of the shows is sold out but there are still tickets available for the other.

And, in case you missed it earlier this summer, check out our podcast on Craftypod. Diane Gilleland gives a great interview and we were honored to be represented on her show talking about Future Craft and crafting with kids.

If you’re in Austin on the 22nd, be sure to come by Zilker Elementary for our Back to School, Don’t Shop; Swap! It’ll be a blast and the ultimate in reducing, reusing, recrafting, recycling.
