My bestie and I had already planned on having our kids make prayer flags on the weekend that we always get together to celebrate summer solstice. This weekend usually includes a bonfire, burning of negative issues that we write on paper, healthy food, drumming and henna tattooing of solsitice symbols. I am so grateful for your broken- down process of creating flags. I have been inspired to pillage through my wardrobe and the donation pile of clothes in an attempt to find funky fabrics. getting a head start on this year's craft is such a rewarding feeling. Thanks again for taking the time to put all of your resourceful info out there for the rest of us..

Now I realize glue wouldn't work b/c where you sew the edge then gives you the slot to string the hemp / line through... Yes, simpler makes sense, and safety pins are sounding pretty good. Thank you!

I think that could work although I don't have much gluing experience. You could also just cut the rectangles of cloth and use safety pins to string them up. Just make them simpler than we have them here. Does that make sense?

Do you think it would work to use fabric glue instead of a sewing machine for those of us sewing-challenged yet still creative folk? (or is that an oxymoron?!?)

Not even scary for a non-crafty mama like me. I love the breaking it down into bits. Seriously. All of life is manageable that way....
