More free fabric!

Yes, it’s true. More free fabric coming your way. As Kathie and I work out the details of our upcoming book, and figure out the tone we’ll take and whether or not we’ll have a little bullshit icon for when we get too uppity in that parenting kind of way, we’ll be thinking of all of you. We’re doing our best to keep it real over here and to keep the tone real as well. To prove that we’ll be thinking of you, we’ll be selecting a new name each week to whom we can send a small yet delightful batch of super fine, Kathie selected fabrics from her lifelong stash. Some vintage, some new, some one-of-a-kind, some beyond belief, all super cool you can count on that.
Our winner this week is Heidi with random.org’s lucky number 21 and as soon as we get her mailing address, we’ll be sending a fine fabric stash her way. Thanks to all who left a comment. We love reading your words and knowing you’re out there. Keep coming back because we’re really enjoying the process.

I’m making little felt flower barrettes, a quilt for Asa (first one!!) and some puppets. And dolls. I need stash!

I’m going a bit nuts at the moment with 4 birthdays in February, and I’m panicking that I won’t be done with their gifts in time! I’m currently making some personalised bunting for my son, knitting a blanket for a friend, weaving a wrap for my mother in law, and trying to fit in some felted brooches as well! Busy, busy, busy!

I am making the coolest recyled sweater quilts for two new babies. I’ve been collecting cashmere sweaters from the good will, I felted and cut them into random squares and sewed a quilt top. I’ve never made a quilt before so now it’s the hard part of figuring out how to put it together!

I’m currently working on an elizabeth zimmerman baby sweater (yikes!) and getting ready to make some funky new curtains for the living room (just the thing to carry me across the last vestiges of winter).

I’m making a blue jean quilt from the many pairs I’ve collected. Perfect winter project.

I’m having trouble finding time for projects in the midst of going back to graduate school, but I’m learning how to quilt in fits and starts. I have several quit squares done in some simple, traditional patterns (pinwheels, nine patch, etc.). I’m using the most beautiful batik scraps to put the squares together. When it gets finished (in whatever form I decide to finish it) it will be beautiful and it makes me happy just thinking about it.

The project tha’s filling my proverbial cup right now is “Pets with Joy” That’s one of the working titles for a show about Pets, and how can we understand them a little bit more to take a better care of them.

currently i am working on healing myself and that is one major project eczema is persistent. but if i got a little stash i say i would get to town on some summer bags and maybe a little dress and of course something for my girls.

My current project is bushwhacking a trail through thick woods from the cabin to a creek. I love the woods so much that it def fills my proverbial cup. Hopefully, soon, I will have finished a cool thing that kids (and kids-at-heart) will love for generations to come.
Um, I also heart Kathie & her stash. <3

I’m doing lots of little projects like mailsorters and half-curtains. Stuff that only takes a couple naptimes from start to finish!

The project that I am working on that fills my cup is a pharmacopeia of the native and naturalized medicinal and edible plants of Central Texas!! Yee haw! Eat them weeds!

the project I’m working on is not crafty, per se, but it does fill my cup. I’m de-cluttering my home in babysteps so that peace in the physical space of our home will match the peace in our hearts.

I’m a total fabric groupie. Just scoped out the family flags project, and am planning to do that at home, and adapt it to paper for the classroom. Thanks for the practical, beautiful idea resource, ladies!

Hmmm… bad as my 3rd graders for jumping the gun and failing to read *all* the directions. My project: crocheting. Winter finds me crocheting up a yarnstorm. The feel of the fiber through my fingers, and the rhythm of the motion is very therapeutic.

I’m currently making baby dresses and matching leggings using thrifted onesies and parts of old t shirts. I’m even throwing in a bit of applique. Too cute!

We are literally moving right this moment but in between packing, sorting, stacking and baby wrangling 3 girls under three I am crafting for our Repurposed Wedding in November. So far this week.. envelopes from old books i picked up at the Treasure City Thrift 25 cent Sale to mail our Save The Date magnets (old pizza delivery promos). A friend of mine gave me a stack of the UPS labels that UPS are no longer using so the old man and I made a nice image on Gimp and will be sticking that over the pizza magnet.

Does it just have to be one project? Who works on just one project at a time! I am currently making a snowball quilt, upcycling a t-shirt into a toddlers hat and scarf and doing some mental preparation for some beach hut style cushions…
